BEFORE THE RACE

The Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K hosts an expo like no other. This year, Brooks Running has partnered with Fleet Feet Savannah & Pooler to serve as the official apparel company and presenting sponsor of the Brooks Fashion Fitness Expo. The day before the race, runners can grab their race bibs and other goodies from vendors at the Brooks Fashion Fitness Expo. The expo also provides access to exclusive race gear and merchandise!

Brooks Running’s mantra of “Run Happy” connects with the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K’s mission to encourage healthy and happier lifestyles to women of all backgrounds and experience levels. And the exclusive merchandise at the Brooks Fashion Fitness Expo will help you look good doing it! Named the number one footwear brand by Forbes in 2022, Brooks Running has become a front-runner in the women’s running space.

The official race merchandise will be available at the expo and online in February. The expo will feature local Savannah companies, stores, and shops, so runners leave with a small taste of Savannah as they head into the weekend!

The expo will take place on April 5th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Charles H. Morris Center. You can find more information here.

Continue your relaxation without having to worry about dinner. Carb up at local Italian eateries, like FraLi Gourmet, which features freshly made pasta, or Bella Napoli Italian Bistro, a cozy restaurant with a seasonal menu! Then, stroll along River Street to see the waterfront. Get rid of pre-race jitters and stretch your legs before the big day.

DURING THE RACE

The Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K is a race centered around Savannah’s deep history and beauty. The big day takes place on April 6 at 7:30 a.m., giving you and your gals a perfect race day and a great timeline to train. (While you’re training for your race, test out some of Brooks Running’s most popular shoes, like the Ghost, the Glycerin, the Adrenaline GTS, or the Glycerin GTS. Their cushioning technology is comfortable, springy, and sure to make any run satisfying!)

The race calls attention to Savannah’s rich past, going through 14 city squares, along tree-lined streets, through several Savannah Parks, including the historical Daffin and Grayson Stadium, the home of the Savannah Bananas, and finishes at the iconic Forsyth Park fountain. You’ll pass by marching bands, Girl Scouts handing out cookies, Forrest Gump, and more! The course is flat and fast and the perfect opportunity to chase your personal best, whether doing the half marathon or the 5K.

The official charity for the Half Marathon and 5K is Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia and Lowcountry. Your participation will contribute to programs of encouragement, confidence, and physical activity for young girls. Talk about girl power!

AFTER THE RACE

As you cross the finish line in front of the iconic Forsyth Park Fountain, you will get to celebrate your and your girl squads’ accomplishments. The Post Race Party is hosted immediately following the race in Forsyth Park, beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until noon. Awards will be given respectively, while live music is performed and glasses of free beer and mimosas will be raised in celebration.

Once you’ve regained the ability to normally move your legs, see some parts of Savannah you probably saw during the race! Listen to the history and stories of the city on a relaxing trolley. Old Town Trolley Tours and Old Savannah Tours are the best way to see the city. The tours allow you to see the attractions and feel acquainted with the city without walking anywhere! The trolley enables you to hop off and back on if you wish.

Beer provides carbohydrates to help your muscles recover, so head to a brewery to grab some bubbles. Moon River Brewing Company will offer you good food, beer, and sound, haunting history. Service Brewing Co. has authentic American-made beers and a relaxing atmosphere.

Conclude your weekend with a free yoga session in the historic Ellis Square to unwind and relax from all the energy. Grab your friends and a yoga mat to stretch those muscles before returning home. Yoga in the Square takes place on Sunday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

So, grab your besties and Brooks Running shoes, and get training!
