What happens in the case of inclement weather?
The race will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, the race will either have a delayed start (maximum 30-minute delay) or, depending on the intensity of the weather, be canceled. The determination will be made by the Event Management staff and local law enforcement to determine the proper action. Legally, the race cannot take place while lightning is in the area for liability reasons.
As a reminder, the registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Event operations will shut down when lightning is 10 miles out from the event areas. Event operations will not resume until the lightning is 10 miles out, moving away from the event areas. Event Management staff will determine this using the Flash to Bang Rule* and weather radar. The Event Management staff and local law enforcement will decide on a course of action to utilize the operational rain plan, delay the event, or cancel the event. Any action will not take place till race morning.
*Flash to Bang Rule* is applied by measuring the time (in seconds) between a visual lightning “Flash” and hearing the resulting “Bang”. This time is then divided by a factor of “5” to obtain distance in miles. For example, 50 seconds between “Flash” and “Bang” divided by “5” equals 10 miles.

Wave Start / Corral System
The Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K offers a lead corral for the first 200 runners selected by race officials. Additionally, there is an informal corral structure, where participants can sort themselves in whichever corral best suits them. We ask that participants please be courteous and not start in a corral that doesn’t match their running pace so that everyone has an enjoyable experience during the race.
The Publix Savannah Women’s Half will have 6 pace groups for the race. Pace group leaders will be holding signs with the appropriate time on their card. You can join a pace group by joining up at the start line or you can find out more information at the Fashion Fitness Expo table for pace groups.
Making Corral Changes
The start line corral system allows for a smooth race start for participants of varying levels. Based on the estimated finish time that you provide on your race entry form, you are assigned a race number and corresponding corral, with other participants of similar running pace. Participants can freely change between corrals at the start line, except for the lead corral. Corral placement is merely for sorting purposes and is based on the honor system.
Before you enter your assigned corral, drop off your pre-race/post-race clothing and belongings at the Gear Check. While you run, your gear will be held at Gear Check. Participants may pick up their Gear Check bag at the Fashion & Fitness Expo when you pick up your packet or on race day at the Gear Check tent. The Gear Check tent will be located inside Forsyth Park near the post-race party area near the solutions/packet pick-up tent. Write your bib number on your bag in the space provided on the bag before you leave it with the Gear Check crew. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the designated Gear Check area. Please note: DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. The event is not responsible for any lost items. Gear bags must be claimed before close of the Finish Line Festival on race day at 12:00 PM.
Course Time Limit
Participants are given a maximum time for both the Half Marathon and the 5K. The Half Marathon must be finished in 4 hours. The 5K must be finished in 1 hour. Click here for an official pacing chart
