Runners were about 200 feet above the city Saturday as they ran over the Talmadge Bridge for Savannah’s famous Bridge Run.

Organizers say it is the toughest bridge race in the south.

Runners race through downtown and then make their way up towards the bridge. Some runners say it was tough, especially the steep incline, as they ran up the bridge.

A member of a running group says this race is one of Savannah’s best.

“It was an overall great experience, because it’s so close and iconic in this area,” Josh Maxwell says. “I mean it’s a must do race. It’s one of those ones where you’re traveling in the area, and you’re looking for good races, the bridge run is, I’d say in Savannah, is a must do race every year.”
People ran the 5K and the 10K races, and some even ran them both with a short break in between.
