Savannah Sports Council Announces New Title Sponsor for Savannah Hockey Classic

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah Sports Council is proud to announce Enmarket as the new title sponsor for its Savannah Hockey Classic, an annual matchup among collegiate hockey teams from The University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, The University of Florida and Florida State University. The 2019 tournament will mark the event’s 20thanniversary.

“Enmarket is the perfect partner for the 20thAnniversary of Savannah’s number one sports event,” says Sports Council Director Rob Wells. “We are looking forward to promoting the Hockey Classic in partnership with Enmarket at all of their area stores and bringing fun and exciting on-ice promotions to the games.”

Enmarket has signed on as title sponsor for 2019 and 2020. The Sports Council has enjoyed a productive partnership with Enmarket, which has been the title sponsor of the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run for the past 15 years. Adding sponsorship of a second major Sports Council event demonstrates Enmarket’s commitment to both the Council and the community.

Enmarket’s director of marketing Matt Clements echoes Wells’ excitement about the sponsorship. “We are thrilled to announce a second partnership with the Savannah Sports Council. Enmarket is committed to supporting the Council’s efforts to organize and promote outstanding events here in our hometown of Savannah. Becoming the title sponsor of the Savannah Hockey Classic is an extension of this support and aligns with our mission to enrich life in our community.”

The 2019 tournament is set to take place at the Savannah Civic Center January 18 and 19. A new event logo and title will be forthcoming. Friday night games begin at 6 and 8:30 p.m. and ticket prices are $12 for mezzanine level and $16 for loge. Saturday night matchups are at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., at $14 for mezzanine and $18 for loge. The weekend will be kicked off with a Business Connection networking event for employees of Chamber of Commerce member businesses on Thursday, January 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Enmarket Extends Partnership with Sports Council for Savannah Bridge Run

SAVANNAH, Ga. — This month, the Savannah Sports Council signed a contract with Enmarket to extend their title sponsorship of the Savannah Bridge Run through December of 2019. The Bridge Run is the Sports Council’s longest-running event, taking place every year since 1991. The 2018 race, scheduled for December 1, will mark the 15thyear of Enmarket’s title sponsorship.

“The Savannah Sports Council is thrilled that Enmarket has renewed their support of the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run,” says Rob Wells, director of the Savannah Sports Council. “We appreciate their continued confidence and dedication to “the South’s toughest bridge run” and their commitment to a healthier Savannah. We look forward to working closely with them in continuing to provide local participants and our visitors with the best possible race experience.”

A portion of the race proceeds benefits the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital, an organization both the Savannah Sports Council and Enmarket are proud to support as one of the most innovative clinical oncology programs in the Southeast.

The Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run weekend kicks off with a Health & Wellness Expo Friday, November 30 at the Savannah Civic Center where participants can pick up their packets as well as shop official merchandise and vendor booths. Saturday morning race options include a 5K, 10K, Double Pump and Kids Run, starting at the bottom of the Talmadge Bridge on the Hutchinson Island side of the river. After crossing the finish line on Montgomery Street, racers can revel at the Michelob Ultra Post-Race Party presented by Host South in Franklin Square. Costume contest winners will also be announced at the party, with cash prizes announced in first, second and third places for groups and individuals.

Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K Makes $1.8M Impact in the Community

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Last weekend, the fourth annual Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K hosted nearly 2,500 participants representing nine countries outside of the U.S. and 40 states. The weekend’s race-related visitation accounted for more than 3,300 room nights in area hotels and a direct visitor spend of over $1.8 million.

The event was first held in 2015 and has been sponsored by Publix since its inception. It serves as an opportunity to bring visitors to Savannah and showcase its picturesque Historic District when the flowers are blooming and the weather is still mild. It also serves as a fundraising drive for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which has received more than $50,000 from the Women’s Half over the four years that the event has taken place, provides a platform for Savannah Area Chamber member businesses to promote their products and services to race participants and their families.

The Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K takes place the first weekend in April. The weekend begins with a Fashion Fitness Expo at the packet pick-up on Friday, and the race through the Historic District on Saturday followed by a Post-Race Party in Forsyth Park. Next year’s Women’s Half weekend is scheduled for April 5-7, 2019.

Tickets on Sale for Savannah Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah Sports Council (SSC) announced the schedule for the Savannah Invitational this November and tickets are on sale now. The five-day event, which will take place November 21-25 at the Savannah Civic Center, will bring six women’s and four men’s college basketball teams to Savannah.

SAVANNAH, Ga – It’s that time of year again; the time to run, walk or crawl, and most importantly, register to be a part of the Southeast’s most exciting bridge run, the Enmark Savannah River Bridge Run on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
